Join us for this LIVE performance of the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour at the Link Centre in Tupelo, MS at 7 pm.  FREE Admission. Our guests will include New Albany bluesman Sam Mosley, North Mississippi rockers, the Kit Thorn Band and British travel writer Richard Grant (“Dispatches From Pluto.”) The show is hosted by Jim Dees and our house band, The Yalobushwhackers,

Following the radio recording at 8 pm, Mosley and the Kit Thorn Band will each perform additional brief sets.

Sam Mosley

New Albany native (by way of the Beaver Dam community) Sam Mosley has been playing blues a half century, ever since his return from service in Vietnam. For years he played with Bob Johnson as Mosley & Johnson. The team wrote successful blues and southern soul tunes in the 1980s and ’90s for the Muscle Shoals Sound and Malaco labels. In 2008 Mosley and Johnson were honored with a Mississippi Blues Trail marker in Union County.

Kit Thorn Band

The Kit Thorn Band are a rock band from north Mississippi. The band includes Kit Thorn on vocals and guitar; Tyler Hendrix, drums; Blake Miller, bass and Trey Stanford on lead guitar. Their latest release is the EP, New Normal. Kit is the daughter of songwriter, Paul Thorn.

Richard Grant

Richard Grant’s latest book is “Dispatches From Pluto” (Simon and Shuster) a chronicle of his year living in the Mississippi Delta. He is the author of three previous books, Crazy River: Exploration and Folly in East Africa (2011) God’s Middle Finger: Into the Lawless Heart of the Sierra Madre (2008), and American Nomads (Grove Press, 2003). Grant was born in Malaysia, lived in Kuwait as a boy, then London, Tucson, AR, and New York City before moving to the Delta. He currently lives in Jackson.
