Musical Guests

Ironing Board Sam

Pianist Ironing Board Sam’s newest release is Super Spirit (Big Legal Mess Records) produced by Bruce Watson and Jimbo Mathus at Dial Back Studio in Water Valley. Ironing Board Sam (real name, Sammie Moore) earned his nickname by mounting his keyboard on an ironing board. He is known as an enthusiastic showman and sharp dresser. His funky, upbeat keyboard style ranges from jazz and funk to ragtime and blues. Following his Thacker appearance, Ironing Board Sam will perform a full show at Proud Larry’s Thursday night.

Webb Wilder

Webb Wilder’s new CD is Mississippi Moderne (Landslide Records) and features a song co-written by Wilder and Dan Penn. In addition to his originals, the CD features Wilder covering Charlie Rich, Conway Twitty, Frankie Lee Sims and Otis Rush. Hattiesburg native Wilder, now in his third decade of performing, describes his music as, “Rock ’n’ roll from Nashville. Formed from Mississippi mud, tinged with British mod. Bruised by the blues.” Wilder will perform a full show at Proud Larry’s with his band, the Beatnecks, on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 pm.
