Taylor Kitchings

Taylor Kitchings is the author of Yard War (Wendy Lamb Books) a young adult novel set in 1964 Jackson, Mississippi. The book centers around an interracial friendship set against the backdrop of sandlot football that brings the civil rights-era South alive for young readers. Kitchings earned his BA from Rhodes College in Memphis and his MA from Ole Miss. He is a former professional piano player and songwriter. He lives in Ridgeland with his wife, Beth, and their two children.

Cedric Burnside`

Cedric Burnside was born and raised around Holly Springs, Mississippi. He is the grandson of the legendary R.L. Burnside and son of drummer Calvin Jackson. Cedric has been playing music all his life.  He is a four-time winner of the prestigious Blues Music Award’s Drummer of the Year (2010-2014) and is widely regarded as one of the best drummers in the world. His current CD is, Descendants of Hill Country. Previous CDs include, Here Me When I Say, and Take Me As I Am. Cedric is currently touring the world with guitarist and lifelong friend Trenton Ayers.

Roxford University

The Roxford University Student Bands consist of young Oxford residents, aged- 8-15 who took part in music classes over the spring and summer, similar to those in the movie, School of Rock. The students worked on classic rock songs like Cheap Trick’s, “I Want You to Want Me,” culminating in a summer concert at Proud Larry’s. Two different groups will perform on Thursday, their first visit to the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour.
