JD Wilkes is a musician, visual artist, author, filmmaker and front man for the roots-rock band, the Legendary Shack Shakers. His debut novel is The Vine That Ate the South (Two Dollar Radio) a bizarre and rollicking tall tale of a book that follows two Kentucky friends on a Homeric journey to discover a murderous kudzu vine. NPR said: “Bizarre, and at points almost gleefully obscene, it’s undeniably one of the smartest, most original Southern Gothic novels to come along in years.” Wilkes’ latest solo album is the just released Fire Dream (Big Legal Mess) produced by Bruce Watson and Jimbo Mathus.
Minrose Gwin is the author of the moving historical novel, Promise (William Morrow), set in the author’s hometown of Tupelo at the time of the real-life Tupelo tornado of 1936. The story alternates between black and white characters as they grapple with a life-changing disaster. Gwin is also the author of “Remembering Medgar Evers: Writing the Long Civil Rights Movement.” She currently lives in Chapel Hill and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Josh Okeefe is a singer-songwriter originally from Derby, England now based in Nashville. His latest album is Josh Okeefe. No Depression wrote in its review, “Okeefe’s songs and his latest album are destined to become classics. Don’t let this gem pass you by.”
