Reading from his latest work, A Muse and A Maze: Writing as Puzzle, Mystery, and Magic, Peter Turchi will dazzle the audience as he teases out how mystery lies at the heart of all storytelling, he uncovers the magic—the creation of credible illusion—that writers share with the likes of Houdini and master magicians.

In the book, Turchi draws out the similarities between writing and puzzle-making and its flip-side, puzzle-solving. He also explores the history of puzzles and how they apply to the creative process. Turchi teaches writing at the University of Houston.

Reed Turchi’s new album is Can’t Bury Your Past (Devil Down Records).  Turchi describes his Kudzu Boogie as “a blend of slide-guitar fuzz and Deep-South trance, a fresh shoot growing from the deep roots of American music.”
