The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour returns to the 2023 Neshoba County Fair with a very special guest performer.
Grammy-winning bluesman Alvin Youngblood Hart will be the featured artist for Thacker’s performance at the event. The show takes the stage at Founder’s Square Pavilion at 8 pm on Saturday, July 22. Hart will be joined by guest author Joe Atkins and country songwriter Peyton Aldrich.
The show is hosted by Jim Dees and Thacker house band, the Yalobushwhackers.
Following the one-hour radio recording, Hart, with drummer Lee Ingram, will perform a 45-minute after set at the Pavilion.
This show will not be broadcast live. It will air the weekend of August 17-20.
The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour is heard in Neshoba County every Saturday at 7 pm on WMAW 88.1 FM – Meridian. The Neshoba County Fair is located on County Road 147, some ten miles west, outside of Philadelphia, MS.

Alvin Youngblood Hart is recognized as one of the world’s most authentic and innovative blues guitarists. His Grammy win came for his contribution to the anthology album, Beautiful Dreamer – The Songs of Stephen Foster.
Hart recently wrapped a run of dates with Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He heads to Europe this summer for a string of solo shows.
Joe Atkins is the author of Harry Dean Stanton: Hollywood’s Zen Rebel, a biography of the late idiosyncratic actor who made memorable appearances in such classics as Cool Hand Luke, Alien and most notably, Paris, Texas. Readers may remember Atkins from his years as a columnist for the Jackson Clarion Ledger.
Country singer Peyton Aldridge has competed on American Idol (2020) as well as NBC’s The Voice in 2022, where superstar musician, John Legend, was his coach. Aldridge’s singles include Hometown Girl. For his Thacker appearance, Aldridge will be backed by our own Yalobushwhackers.
