“Ladies of the Blues!” – Live in Clarksdale Friday!

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour will record a live edition of its show – “Ladies of the Blues!” –  this Friday, April 16 at 6 pm in Clarksdale, MS as part of this year’s pandemic-modified Juke Joint Festival. The show will appear at the Delta Blues Museum Stage located at 1 Blues Alley in Clarksdale.

Admission is free with no wristbands required but with health protocols in place.

Audience members will be asked to wear masks and socially-distance. For those without masks, a limited number of paper masks will be available. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged, but no coolers, please. There will be food and drink for sale.

 

Guests on the special “Ladies of the Blues” show will include acclaimed Delta blues pianist, Eden Brent (top photo) longtime Delta performers, Miss Gladys (middle) and Peggy “Lady Trucker” Hemphill (bottom photo) plus special guests. Hosts of the show are Jim Dees and Thacker house band, the Yalobushwhackers.

Multi-instrumentalist Deak Harp will play a preshow set at 5:30 pm.

The Ladies of the Blues show will not be broadcast live, but recorded for air later this spring.
