The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, the Oxford-based music and literature program, has announced a new Producer/Director for the show.

Kate Teague, a 2015 Ole Miss graduate and Mobile, Ala. native was hired this week by the show’s Board of Directors to take the helm. Teague’s duties will include overseeing the live show, booking guests, organizing road performances and the myriad details of producing 30 live shows a year with a dozen crew members. Teague has interned on the Thacker production crew for the past year.

“I am beyond excited to accept this position,” Teague said, “and for the chance to continue to work alongside the Thacker family.” Teague is no stranger to the stage. She has won music scholarships in her hometown and has had several music business internships in Nashville including with Vector Management, Rounder Records, and with musician Will Kimbrough. In Oxford she performs as the songwriter/guitarist for the band, Reels.

Teague replaces Kathryn McGaw York who has produced the show for the past five years.

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour features author readings, literary discussions and eclectic musical performances each week and is broadcast live from Off Square Books on the Oxford square at 6 pm every Thursday in the spring and fall. The show is heard on Thursdays on WUMS 90.3 FM (http://www.myrebelradio.com/) and also every Saturday at 7 pm on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (http://www.mpbonline.org/programs/radio/listen-live/).
