Jamie Kornegay

Jamie Kornegay is author of the novel, Soil (Simon and Shuster), a dark comedy set in Lafayette County about a farmer who is ruined by flood and descends into paranoia after he discovers a corpse on his land. The book was recently nominated by hundreds of booksellers across the U.S. for the March 2015 Indie Next List. It’s been called, “the Coen Brothers meets ‘Crime and Punishment’ with a Mississippi twist.”

Jamie was co-producer (with Lyn Roberts) of Thacker Mountain Radio from 2000-2005 and during that time the show went from a three-county local broadcast to statewide and received the Governor’s Award for Broadcast Excellence. For the last ten years he has run his own bookstore, Turnrow Books in Greenwood while raising three young children with his wife Kelly. Soil is his first novel.

Davis Coen

Get Back In

Davis Coen is a Memphis area country-blues guitarist/singer-songwriter. His latest CD is Get Back In, which was recorded at Black Wing Studio in Water Valley. His songs are featured prominently on XM/Sirius satellite radio, Martin Scorsese’s PBS special ‘The Blues’, and the House of Blues Hour with Dan Aykroyd. Coen will perform at Foxfire Ranch outside Holly Springs on Sunday, April 19.

Seratones

Fat Possum recording artist

The Seratones are a rock and roll band from Shreveport, Louisiana who have just signed a three-record deal with Oxford’s Fat Possum Records. The band is AJ Haynes (vocals), Connor Davis (guitar), Adam Davis (bass) and Jesse Gabriel (drums). Fat Possum’s Matthew Johnson told the Shreveport Times, “We had them come to Oxford and they were fantastic. I tried to sign them before they left the bar that night. They deliver live and they have a lot of energy.” Their single, Choking on your spit (Karma), is currently available for download. The Seratones will perform at Proud Larry’s Friday night (April 10).
