Author

Daco Auffenorde

In Daco S. Auffenorde‘s suspense thriller, The Medici Curse (Penzler), a descendant of a powerful Italian dynasty reckons with her family’s troubled legacy.

The Medici Curse is a fascinating, wholly original story that juxtaposes love and revenge with a creepy, haunting mansion set against the gorgeous backdrop of Tuscany.

“This nail-biting thriller leads the reader down a treacherous path with shocks and twists at every corner. A family curse coils together in a plot suffused with dread and heart-thumping suspense. This is an unforgettable read.” – Samantha M. Bailey, USA Today

Daco S. Auffenorde, a Huntsville, Alabama native, is author of the award-winning novels, Cover Your Tracks and The Forgotten Girl. She is a member of the International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America and the Alabama State Bar.

Music

Amy LaVere and Will Sexton

Amy LaVere is a singer, songwriter, upright bass player and actress who started out playing punk music as a teenager in Detroit. For the last 20+ years, LaVere has been in Memphis, making Americana music.

Her latest album is Painting Blue. Recent singles include, We Could Be Magic and Mr. Funny Business, the latter featuring the late Memphis guitarist David Cousar.

NPR’s Robert Siegel says LaVere “specializes in lyrics that are more barbed than her sweet soprano prepares you for.”

“Her growing catalogue of material and steady critical acclaim suggest a first-tier presence on the Americana and indie-folk/punk circuits.”– NPR

Her husband, Will Sexton, is an accomplished writer and sought-after producer and session player. He is the brother of guitarist Charlie Sexton.

Will’s latest album is Don’t Walk the Darkness.

Amy LaVere and Will Sexton will record a live album of old and new songs at The Green Room in the Crosstown Concourse in Memphis, TN on September 13th.

Optic Sink

Optic Sink (Goner, Feel It Records) have been burning up stages for years with their postpunk combination of darkwave beats, irrepressible melodies, and impassioned vocals. As a result, the trio – Ben Bauermeister, Natalie Hoffmann and Keith Cooper – are seeing bigger and bigger crowds at their live shows.

Their latest album is Glass Blocks on Feel It Records.

Their upcoming third album, Lucky Number, drops on Oct. 31.

“Optic Sink operates on a foundation of manic synthesizers and drum machines, with bass thrown in for threat and muscle. This second outing (Glass Blocks) from the Memphis trio is, perhaps, even more alienated and spare.” – Dusted
