Musical Guest: El Tigre Mariachi from Taos High School (NM) (2023 photo)
Since their founding at Taos High School in 1980, the El Tigre Mariachi band have built a reputation as showstoppers. Membership requires students to not only learn to read music but also to undergo hours of rigorous rehearsal and grueling auditions. While certainly a music of Mexico, mariachi also has roots in Spain, Cuba and Africa.
