Featuring

Author

Elizabeth Crook

Elizabeth Crook’s fourth novel is The Which Way Tree (Little Brown). The story is the haunting odyssey of a young girl who, with her brother, a Tejano outlaw and an old preacher with an aging tracking dog, brave the Texas frontier to track the panther that killed the siblings’ mother. The story is told from the boy, Benjamin’s, point of view with warmth and humor as a perilous adventure with all the dimensions of a legend. Crook lives in Austin, TX.

Music

Vitamin Cea

Vitamin Cea is a hip-hop artist from Jackson, MS. Her albums include, JoyFul Noise, Humble Freestyle and her latest single, My Skin is Black. Her lyrics reflect honest soul as she rhymes about her confusion, adoration, and at times, disdain for the world.

Breaking Grass

Breaking Grass is a north Mississippi-based bluegrass band. Front man Cody Farrar (guitar) writes most of the songs for the band comprised of Tyler White on fiddle; Jody Elmore on banjo; Zach Wooten on mandolin; and Britt Sheffield on bass. Their latest CD is Warning Signs. One critic wrote: “From heartfelt emotion to barroom romance to a Texas Two-Step to a genuine good-old-fashioned barn-burner, this band mixes it up.”
